Tuesday data center tidbits.


First up is the article asking “Why is cloud computing hard?” (it’s not, they just like it that way). The biggest “shake your head line” is the one from Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer that users “will know cloud security when they see it”. If this is the goal you’re shooting for, you’ll never get anyone to trust your cloud.

Second up the story about the lengthy Cordero data center power outage yesterday. Sounds like great customer response with the use of Twitter, not so hot for not dealing with (or not knowing of) the failure of the transfer switch to transfer before the batteries croaked. At least the generators started and that puts them ahead of a lot of the big boys!
