I was just reading about the case for using multiple hypervisors in virtual server and desktop environments. Unless there’s some sort of overwhelming advantage like something critical that will only work with one particular hypervisor or a massive gain in performance, I think this is foolish. The expense and aggravation of trying to not only support multiple hypervisor environments themselves but also all the permutations of what could be running on them would drive you nuts. Possible is one thing, doing it well is something else entirely.
Next up is another story about a possible data center in space. Aside from the obvious issues like how do you make a tech service call for the thing, what happens when a piece of space junk or a meteor punchs a hole thru it? I’m far from one to want to hug servers, but I think I’ll at least keep mine on the planet.
Call or email me or visit the SwiftWater Telecom web site for green data center and cloud computing services minus the hype.
